Born 18th June 1932 in Gravesend Kent England. Educated at George Heriots School in Edinburgh obtaining his Oxford and Cambridge school certificate in 1949. Apprenticed as a Chartered Accountant with Graham, Smart & Annan. Qualified in 1955. Served his National Service with the 14th Field Regiment from 1955 to 1957. Rose to the rank of Bombardier in the Survey Section. Came to Nassau in 1958 with Bethell Robertson & Company Limited, served with them to 1968. Worked as Finance Director at Slater Walker & Withers Stock Brokers from 1968 to 1970. Entered private practice in 1970. Joined with Dayrrl Butler to form Butler & Taylor. Later joined Moore Stephens International Ltd. to form Butler & Taylor. Was a Member Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland, the Bahamas Institute of Chartered Accountants, Lyford Cay Club, St. David’s Lodge #1741, Scottish Institution. Served as Treasurer of several charitable constitutions. Hobby – Golf. Represented the Bahamas at three World Cups and six Caribbean Hoerman cups. Golf Champion at Lyford Cay in 1972. 10 times Senior Champion and three times super Senior Champion.
Anthony’s professional experience prior to the firm's is in insurance, business advisory services, strategic planning, financial services, public accounting and human capital management spans over forty years in the Bahamas and Canada. He previously headed Canada’s 3rd largest insurance operation in the Bahamas providing life and health and investment-based products for a variety medium and large companies. He has been at the forefront of providing business advisory and financial planning services to local businesses and individuals. He also served in senior executive capacities in the hotel and tourism sector with responsibility for talent acquisition, retention and human capital management for the largest hotel property in the Caribbean. He holds a BBA from St. Francis Xavier University in Canada. He is a Colorado State CPA and Bahamian Chartered Accountant. Anthony has participated in numerous executive leadership forums including the Small and Medium Sized Strategic Business Development Program at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. He is an avid golfer and sporting enthusiast.
Dayrrl began his career as an accountant with the NYC firm of Coopers & Lybrand, CPAs in 1974. He articled with Thorne Riddell (predecessor firm of KPMG) in Toronto, Canada earning his Chartered Accountant designation from the Nova Scotia Institute of Chartered Accountants in 1976. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Economics with minor in Mathematics from St. John’s University, Minnesota. He continued his academic pursuits and earned a Novell Certified Engineer designation in 1997.
Dayrrl is active in a number of professional and civic organizations. He is a member of the Canadian, Nova Scotia, and Bahamas Institutes of Chartered Accountants. A competent ToastMaster, he is the firm’s representative on the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce, and helds numerous officer positions in various organizations. He is Roman Catholic, married and the father of four daughters and three sons.
Dayrrl enjoys fishing, and scuba diving in his spare time.
